Tips for Success

In our experience all months are great months: IMPULSE SALES, Markets are examples of this. You have passing trade only. although They don’t know you are there, they see you, sniff and hopefully become educated. well worth keeping at it, you WILL get known, this is how we started.  We rely on our customer base we have built up over the year. Imagine peddling a bike, no point in peddling at the flat hopefully you have some momentum. Because the weather is so unreliable Oct Nov onwards we choose 2 Christmas Markets and focus on the indoor ones that are well advertised and well established, this is not passing trade, this is: DESTINATION SALES. People come here to buy, a much safer bet. If you are just starting out there are 3 things you can do.

1) Remember Facebook is a community where you sell to your friends, you DO NOT GET NEW CUSTOMERS if they haven’t sniffed. OK there are always exceptions. Use it as a catalogue and build awareness to those that have ALREADY sniffed your product. Trying to sell on facebook is: BRANDING, not Marketing. When was the last time you bought an unknown perfume on facebook? What? Never? Really? OK so you answered your own question there.

2) Take your scent tins into work, take them to your neighbours. They sniff they buy. OBLIGATION SALES, because they already know you.

3) Finally Candle Parties, invite 10 people, provide cakes, girly night in, prosecco etc. A few games, hand out your scent tins. Candle parties are: DESTINATION AND OBLIGATION SALES. The most effective. When you are selling work out which of the above your activity fits into.

Social Media

The Candle Parties are the most cost effective way to make money and build a customer base quickly. Some think that building a facebook page, asking friends to like it will build a business. It doesn’t. People need to have SNIFFED your product first that’s why we supply scent tins. The Candle Parties give them this opportunity. A facebook page is a way to KEEP IN TOUCH with your customers AFTER an event. Think about it another way, did you make friends through facebook, or did you have friends that you then added and kept in touch with? The second answer hopefully! Selling a tangible product is the same thing.
