What diminishes most noticeably is the fragrance. When the scent has faded, wax may still be present even though it is time to change the melt. This is also why adding more heat is not automatically better. A warmer must be suitable for wax melts and used according to its instructions. Safe setup
Place the warmer on a stable, level and heat-resistant surface. Keep it clear of curtains, paper, bedding and other items that could catch fire or be damaged by heat. Make sure its position is not easy to knock, pull or brush against. Use only a warmer designed for wax melts and follow its manufacturer’s limits. A large dish is not an invitation to fill it to the rim. Molten wax takes up space and can spill if the warmer is moved or overfilled. Remove the solid wax according to the warmer’s instructions, then wipe the cool dish clean if needed. Do not pour melted wax into a sink or drain. It can cool and solidify in the pipework. Do not use a knife or other sharp tool that could crack or scratch the dish.
Are wax melts flame-free?

A tealight warmer offers the visual effect of a flame but carries the ordinary fire risks of a lit candle. Neither format is risk-free. What should a UK wax-melt label tell you?
A wax-melt label in Great Britain must reflect the classification of the finished mixture and include the applicable GB CLP information when the formulation is classified as hazardous. TL;DR:

GB CLP in plain English
GB CLP is the Great Britain framework for classifying, labelling and packaging chemical substances and mixtures. It applies in England, Scotland and Wales. HSE explains that suppliers must identify the hazards of chemicals before placing them on the GB market and communicate classified hazards through labels and safety data sheets where applicable.[1] Depending on the classification, a label can require:
- the product identifier;
- the supplier’s name, address and telephone number;
- the nominal quantity when supplied to the general public, unless stated elsewhere on the package;
- relevant hazard pictograms;
- a signal word;
- hazard statements;
- precautionary statements; and
- applicable supplemental information. Not every label will carry every element. The required content comes from the classification of that particular mixture. A product should not be judged safe merely because its label looks simple, nor should a pictogram be treated as proof that normal use is inherently dangerous. The label communicates identified hazards and the precautions needed to manage them.
