Ingredients and Eco-Friendliness:
Made with Eco Wax, our special blend contains Coconut Oil and Rapeseed Oil—nothing else. It’s free from palm, soy, beeswax, paraffin, polymers, and GMO materials. Our wicks are lead and zinc-free. The tins are made of aluminum and manufactured in Hull. Our wax uses rapeseed from the UK and Europe, while the coconut plantations are run by independent indigenous farmers, supporting small-scale, independent farmers free from corporate strongholds. Given the increasing evidence that soy farming often involves GMO and contributes to deforestation, we have opted for our unique Eco Wax blend.
Candle Safety Advice:
Candles are becoming an increasingly popular way to add relaxation and ambiance to homes, leading to a rise in candle-related incidents. In 2003 alone, 1791 house fires were attributed to candles, resulting in 22 fatalities and over 650 injuries. With a 50% increase in candle sales in recent years, it’s crucial to be aware of the potential dangers and handle candles responsibly.
The Do’s and Don’ts:
– Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface, especially night lights and tea lights, which can get hot enough to melt plastic. TVs are not fire-resistant objects.
– Use proper holders: Candles should be held upright and stable to prevent tipping over.
– Position away from curtains and other fabrics, furniture, and draughts.
– Avoid placing under shelves: Ensure at least three feet (one meter) of space above a candle.
– Keep clothes and hair away: Avoid leaning over lit candles.
– Keep out of reach of children and pets.
– Space candles apart: Leave at least four inches (10cm) between burning candles.
– Use appropriate holders for votive or scented candles, which can liquefy.
– Do not move burning candles. Extinguish them before relocating.
– Never leave candles unattended: Extinguish them before leaving a room or going to sleep.
– Use a snuffer or spoon to extinguish candles safely, avoiding sparks and hot wax splatter.
– Ensure candles are fully extinguished to prevent smoldering and potential fires.
